BSF Thwarts Infiltration Attempts, Apprehends Bangladeshi Nationals Along Meghalaya Border

Shillong – The Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya has intensified operations along the international border, successfully preventing multiple infiltration attempts in recent days.

On February 11, alert troops of the 172nd Battalion foiled an infiltration attempt in East Jaintia Hills district, apprehending two Bangladeshi nationals, including a woman, along with two Indian touts attempting to facilitate their illegal entry. The security forces also seized an Alto vehicle used in the operation.

A day earlier, on February 10, BSF personnel from the 4th Battalion acted on specific intelligence inputs and intercepted three Bangladeshi women attempting to cross the Indo-Bangladesh border in the East Khasi Hills district. The forces apprehended the individuals before they could enter Indian territory.

The BSF has remained vigilant along the porous international border, continuing its crackdown on illegal cross-border movement. Security measures have been heightened as authorities work to curb human trafficking and unauthorized entry from Bangladesh into Meghalaya.
