BSF Thwarts Smuggling Attempts Along Indo-Bangladesh Border in Meghalaya
Shillong: The Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya has successfully foiled multiple smuggling attempts along the Indo-Bangladesh international border, seizing contraband worth lakhs of rupees.
Acting on specific intelligence, the BSF intercepted smugglers and confiscated goods valued at over ₹4.5 lakh, including sugar, garlic, blankets, liquor, and betel nut.
The operation highlights the unwavering vigilance of BSF personnel in curbing illegal activities and safeguarding the border. Officials emphasized their commitment to maintaining security and preventing cross-border smuggling in the region.
In a separate operation earlier this week, the Meghalaya BSF seized contraband goods near the India-Bangladesh border, valued at ₹11.49 lakh.
The haul included fish, garlic, puchka (a crispy snack), and blankets. These seizures reflect the BSF’s proactive approach and its reliance on timely intelligence to thwart smuggling networks operating along the border.
The recent successes underscore the relentless efforts of the BSF to secure the international boundary and deter unlawful activities. Security forces have reaffirmed their resolve to maintain border integrity and prevent any attempts to compromise the safety of the region.
