BSF Women’s Sports Meet Concludes with High Honors at Meghalaya Frontier Headquarters

Northeast Desk, 29th August: A major women’s sports competition organized by the Border Security Force (BSF) concluded on August 28 at the Frontier Headquarters in Meghalaya, marking a significant event in the promotion of athletic excellence among security personnel. The competition featured intense contests in wrestling, boxing, judo, arm wrestling, weightlifting, and powerlifting.

The event saw the participation of over 120 female athletes from the BSF’s Eastern and Western Commands, showcasing their prowess in various disciplines over several days. The closing ceremony was a grand affair, attended by high-ranking officials, including Abu Taher Mondal, Meghalaya’s Minister of Power and Community & Rural Development, along with top officers from the BSF, Assam Rifles, and CRPF.

As the chief guest, Minister Mondal honored the victors across various categories, emphasizing the pivotal role of sports in building a healthy society. He lauded the BSF for its dedication to fostering an athletic culture among its personnel, recognizing the discipline and resilience that sports instill.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, students from BSF School delivered cultural performances, bringing color and vibrancy to the event’s closing moments. The ceremony not only celebrated athletic achievement but also reinforced the importance of sports in community and personal development.
