BTS Reunion Countdown: RM and V Discharged from Military Service
Entertainment: In a significant step towards a complete BTS reunion, RM and V were officially discharged from their military service on June 10. The ceremony took place at the Sports Park in Sinbuk-eup, Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, where fans gathered to welcome their beloved idols back to civilian life. With this discharge, four out of the seven members have now completed their mandatory military duties.
The event featured celebratory balloon releases as supporters showed their unwavering dedication throughout the members’ 18-month service period. Both RM and V served in specialised roles, with RM serving with the 15th Division’s military band and V with the Army’s 2nd Corps Military Police Special Task Force. During the ceremony, V reflected on his transformative journey, stating that his time in the military allowed him to “really reflect on and reset both my mind and body.”
RM shared how military service deepened his relationships with family and friends who had previously served. He expressed a newfound appreciation for those who serve while artists pursue their careers, noting that he “felt deeply that when we were working (as artists), there were many people who were protecting the country in our stead.” Both members emphasised their concern for fellow servicemen still completing their duties.
With Jimin and Jungkook set to be discharged on June 11 and Suga on June 21, the anticipation for a complete BTS reunion is building. V’s promise to fans captures the collective excitement: “Just a little more patience, and we’ll be back with amazing performances.” RM also expressed his eagerness to “run hard again as society’s RM.” The global fanbase can now see the light at the tunnel’s end, with a complete BTS reunion just days away from reality.
