Budget Session of Nagaland to begin on March 19
Guwahati: The budget session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) will commence from March 19 with the address of Governor Jagdish Mukhi and conclude on March 24.
According to the State Assembly Secretariat’s provisional schedule, the business will begin with Governor Jagdish Mukhi’s customary address, followed by obituary references to former legislators who passed away during the intercession period, and the election of Deputy Speaker of the House on March 19.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who also holds the Finance position, will unveil the 2022-23 Budget on March 22.
According to national media reports, the session would also include the laying of annual administrative reports of government agencies, government reports and rules, and the presenting of Assembly committee findings.
The session is significant because it will be the first budget session of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), the opposition-free government founded in September 2021.
This is likely to be the 13th Nagaland Assembly’s final budget session because the state’s Assembly election is scheduled for February-March next year.
During the session, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India’s report on the state finances and government activities will be laid before the House.
