Buffaloes Rescued By BSF Troops From India-Bangladesh Border

Guwahati: The Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers at the International Border of the East Khasi Hills rescued buffaloes brutally crammed in trucks on Saturday.

“On 31 Dec 2022, troops of 110 Bn under BSF Meghalaya rescued 31 buffaloes brutally crammed in trucks at the International Border of East Khasi Hills. These buffaloes were brought there for further smuggling to Bangladesh,” read an official press release from BSF.

Following a particular tip, the BSF stopped trucks carrying buffalo near the international border on the Ichamati-Shella road. Buffaloes were recovered in a pitiful state, cruelly chained and squeezed inside of two vehicles.

Both of the drivers fled into the forest after spotting the BSF approaching, leaving these trucks in their wake. According to the report, the 172 Bn BSF also seized cosmetics worth Rs 8.5 lakhs from the East Jaintia hills’ international border on the same day.

By deploying more personnel and monitoring equipment, the Border Security Force (BSF) has increased its watchfulness along susceptible routes and patches and taken control of the critical areas.

An official statement from BSF Shillong states that this year, BSF Meghalaya has freed 3308 livestock from the grasp of cattle traffickers.
