Bus Falls into Gorge in Maharashtra, 12 Dead

Guwahati: As many as 12 people were killed and 25 others were injured after a bus accident that took place on Saturday in Maharashtra.
According to reports, a bus plunged into a canyon in Raigad’s Khopoli are at around 5:30 am. The tragedy occurred in Maharashtra on the former Mumbai-Pune route.
Meanwhile, a rescue effort has begun on the spot of the incident. With the use of ropes, rescue personnel were seen escorting the accident survivors to safety.
According to Raigad Superintendent of Police (SP) “There were 40 to 45 people in the bus, out of which, seven people have died while more than 25 people are injured, the rescue is still underway, a crane has been called to pull out the bus.”
Chief minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde expressed his condolence over the unfortunate event. Additionally, he promised a Rs. 5 lakh ex-gratia payment to the deceased person’s kin. Shinde also spoke with the rescue team as well as the Raigad Collector and SP. Additionally, the CM stated that government hospitals will provide free medical care to those who were injured in the incident.
