Cancellation of FCRA Registration for Centre for Policy Research

National Desk, 17th January: The Ministry of Home Affairs has cancelled the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Act, 2020 (FCRA) registration of the Centre for Policy Research (CPR), a prominent public policy research institution in New Delhi.

CPR, led by Yamini Aiyar, daughter of Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, had its FCRA registration revoked due to alleged violations of FCRA regulations.

The institution was already under government scrutiny and had undergone an income tax survey earlier.

In September 2022, the Income Tax Department conducted a survey against CPR, Oxfam India, and Independent and Public-Spirited Media Foundation (IPSMF) as part of a foreign funding probe. Last year, CPR’s FCRA license was suspended for 180 days, later extended for an additional 180 days.
