Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs in the state , a huge consignment of cannabis worth Rs. 15 crores were seized in Assam’s Jorabat on Thursday morning.
According to reports, a raid led by Joint Commissioner of Officers Partha Sarathi Mahanta, police confiscated a truck with the registration number HR 38 T 2913 that was hauling 2,500kg of cannabis.
The cannabis that was confiscated is suspected to have a value worth of Rs. 15 crores.
Reportedly, two persons were arrested in connection with the seizure.
The arrested driver and handyman have been identified as Jitendra Kumar and Ashok Kumar, who are from Uttarakhand and Haryana respectively.
The truck was stopped in Jorabat while travelling from Manipur to Guwahati.
