Guwahati: One smuggler shot dead in police encounter in Assam’s Dhubri district.
Police open fired on four smugglers. They were accused of smuggling cattle heads as well as drugs.
The accused were shot when tried to flee from police custody. The encounter occurred in Bilasipara area of the district.
According to reports, the four accused were reportedly smuggling cattle heads as well as drugs in a Tata Indigo vehicle which is registered with the number AS 17 E 0837.
The police officials informed that after they asked the accused to stop the vehicle, but they didn’t follow the orders of and tried to flee from the place and further hit the police vehicle. The accused further open fired on police, however after these police having no option fired on accused.
In the firing one among the four accused was shot dead one is undergoing treatment, one was taken to police custody. However, one of the accused was able to escape.
