Nagaon (Assam): Assam Police arrested 7 persons in connection with cattle smuggling and seized three trucks in Nagaon district of the state.
Based on an information from sources the officials from the Bagori Police Petro Post of the district launched an operation in Kaliabor against cattle smuggling and arrested the accused.
The seven accused were identified as Muksidul Islam of Dhing, Omar Qazi, Showell Ahmed, Sariful Islam of Meerabari, Sheikh Abdullah, Imran Hussain and Farooq Khan of Tinsukia.
During the operation the police officials raided the trucks at the National Highway 37 and recovered at least 69 cattle heads in the vehicles.
Moreover, the police seized the three trucks. The trucks were registered with number AS 23 EC 0886, AS 23 CC 0304 and AS 23 BC 6186.
It may be mentioned that the cattle heads were smuggling from Upper Assam.
