Guwahati: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a railway officer from Rangia in Kamrup Rural district of Assam.
Officials from the CBI began their operations at the Rangia division of the Northeast Frontier Railway’s welfare bureau’s personnel branch.
Officials claim that the railway officer was caught in the act of taking a bribe.
The officer has been identified as Robin Das, the welfare department inspector.
He allegedly asked a complainant for Rs 20,000 in exchange for submitting a medical report.
Robin Das is a resident of Hajo.
