CBI Arrests TMC Leader Anubrata Mondal in cattle smuggling case
Guwahati: Trinamool Congress (TMC) Birbhum district president Anubrata Mondal has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday in connection with the cattle smuggling case. He is reputed to be Mamata Banerjee’s close aide in West Bengal.
The TMC leader is now being taken for a medical examination.
A CBI team visited at Mondal’s residence in Birbhum’s Bolpur, earlier today.
According to reports quoted by ANI, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a notice to Mondal for questioning in connection with a livestock smuggling case on August 5.
Mondal was requested to appear in the CBI headquarters at Nizam’s Palace in Kolkata on Monday, August 8.
A former Border Security Force (BSF) Commandant was arrested by the CBI on September 21, 2020, in connection with smuggling livestock illegally across the Indo-Bangladesh border. According to the sources, Anubrata Mondal’s name was scrutinised throughout the course of the case’s inquiry.
