CBI Grants 5-Day Custody of 4 Accused in Manipur Students’ Murder Case
Northeast Desk, 4th October: A special court in Guwahati has granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) five-day custody of the four accused, including two women, in connection with the murder of two students from the Meitei community.
These arrests took place on October 1, following the discovery of disturbing images of the missing students’ bodies on social media shortly after mobile internet services were restored in Manipur.
The victims, Phijam Hemjit (20) and Hijam Linthoingambi (17), had gone missing near Bishnupur in July, and the state government confirmed their tragic murder. Manipur continues to grapple with efforts to restore normalcy in the state.
