CBI Raids 105 Locations Over Cyber Crime Crackdown
Guwahati: As part of the CBI’s “Operation Chakra”, which targeted cybercriminals who committed financial crimes, 105 addresses in various states were searched on Tuesday.
The searches were being carried out jointly by the state and union territory police departments.
While 87 sites are being searched by the CBI and 18 locations are being examined by state and UT police, there are over 300 suspects being looked into.
According to reports, the operation is also reportedly searching four locations in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, five in Delhi, three in Chandigarh, two in each of Punjab, Karanataka, and Assam, among other locations.
They claimed to have found two call centres in Ahmedabad and Pune that were preying on trusting Americans.
The incident has been reported to the American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), according to the officials.
In one of the raids in Rajasthan, the CBI allegedly seized 1.5 kg of gold and Rs 1.5 crore in cash.
They added that the action was assisted by Interpol, the FBI, the Royal Canadian Mountain Police, and the Australian Federal Police.
