CBI Seeks Further Three-Day Remand Of Manish Sisodia

Guwahati: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is currently being held on a three-day remand by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Sisodia was brought before a municipal court as his five-day CBI detention period expired on Saturday. He made a bail motion at a specialised court in the city on Friday.

The Delhi Court has set March 10 for the hearing on Manish Sisodia’s bail request.

Sisodia was arrested a few days ago in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in the formulation and application of the Delhi government’s excise policy.

The Supreme Court declined to hear Sisodia’s appeal of his arrest in connection with the excise policy case, thus the top court advised him to appeal to the Delhi High Court instead.

Sisodia was taken into jail by the CBI on Sunday and was asked to stay for five days. According to the investigative agency, Sisodia was withholding information and was not helping with the investigation.

National demonstrations protesting Sisodia’s detention were conducted by AAP members and leaders in several states. The party stated that the BJP was behind his targeting and that it was done to draw attention away from the continuing dispute with the Adani Company.
