Guwahati: In a decisive move to uphold academic integrity, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has initiated a series of unannounced inspections across 10 schools spanning six states and Union Territories.
The simultaneous raids, which included institutions in Assam, were executed by dedicated teams to verify compliance with a range of board regulations, including proper academic and physical infrastructure and the controversial issue of non-attending students.
Officials from the board confirmed on Wednesday that the coordinated effort involved 10 separate teams, each comprising senior CBSE officers and experienced principals from other affiliated schools. The swift, simultaneous action across Delhi, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha, alongside Assam, was designed to prevent schools from altering their records and to provide an accurate snapshot of their operational status. A senior CBSE official stated that the drive was specifically targeted at schools suspected of flouting board bye-laws and enrolling students who do not attend regular classes, a practice that undermines the very essence of formal education. The reports from these inspection committees are now under review, and the board has assured that strict action will be taken against any institution found to be in violation. The official emphasised the board’s unwavering commitment to maintaining high educational standards and promised that similar enforcement drives would continue to ensure adherence to CBSE regulations.
