CBSE Establishes Sub-Regional Office in Agartala to Address Academic Concerns in Tripura Schools
Agartala, Tripura – In response to the underperformance of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) affiliated schools in Tripura during recent board examinations, the CBSE has announced the establishment of a sub-regional office in Agartala.
This move aims to enhance educational support and resources for students and schools in the state.
The introduction of the CBSE’s English-medium curriculum and the renaming of 125 state-run schools to Vidyajyoti Schools occurred following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) rise to power in Tripura in 2018. However, this year, only 61% of students from these schools successfully passed the class 10 examinations, while the pass rate for class 12 students stood at 59%. Previously, these schools operated under the Bengali medium curriculum set by the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE).
Abhijit Samajpati, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for the Education Department, indicated that the state government would allocate appropriate land for the permanent establishment of the CBSE office. Until then, the office will temporarily operate from a building within the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya.
The newly established sub-regional office will provide a range of services to CBSE-affiliated schools, including assistance with admissions, subject corrections, updates to student records, coordination of examination centers, mark sheet corrections, grievance redressal, and facilitation of teacher training.
Samajpati emphasized that the office will work in collaboration with state education bodies and other regional educational institutions to ensure smooth operations for examinations and to enhance student development activities. This initiative is expected to create a more robust educational environment and broaden learning opportunities for students across Tripura.
