Center Appoints IAS Officers As Director of Census Operations For 4 States

Guwahati: The Centre has appointed three IAS officers as Director of Census Operations (DCO) and Director of Citizen Registration (DCR) in the states of Maharashtra, Assam, Punjab and Chandigarh for a period of three years.

Three members of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Nirupama Dange, Debajyoti Dutta and Navjot Khosa, have been approved for appointment through December 31, 2025 or until further orders by President Droupadi Murmu.

In a notification released on Monday, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced the hiring of these officers.

According to the notification, Dange an IAS officer from the 2007-batch Maharashtra Cadre, was appointed to the new position under the Central Staffing Scheme with effect from December 20, 2022, for a duration ending on December 31, 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Dange’s headquarters will be in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Dutta, an Assam Meghalaya Cadre officer from the 2010 batch was appointed as the director of the census operations and the director of citizen registration in Assam, according to another notification.

The President provided her permission for Dutta’s appointment as DCO and DCR for Assam under the Central Staffing Scheme, effective December 20, 2022, for a term ending December 31, 2025, or until further orders, whichever comes first, at his current post of Deputy Secretary.

According to the statement, Dutta would have its headquarters in Guwahati, Assam.

Additionally, the President approved the appointment of Khosa, a Kerala cadre officer from the 2012 batch, as DCO and DCR for Punjab and Chandigarh beginning on December 19, 2022, for a duration ending on December 31, 2025, or until further orders, whichever comes first, at her current level of Deputy Secretary.

According to the notice, Chandigarh would serve as Khosa’s administrative centre.
