Imphal: In a significant boost to Manipur’s infrastructure, the Union Government has sanctioned a budget of Rs 777.61 crore for the widening and upgrading of the Shangshak-Tengnoupal Road (Package-3) section of National Highway-102A.
The 48-kilometer stretch, connecting the districts of Ukhrul and Kamjong, will be converted into a two-lane road with a hard shoulder. The project, announced under the Annual Plan for 2024-25, is expected to enhance road capacity, reduce travel time, and improve overall connectivity in the region.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, took to social media to share the news, emphasizing the project’s potential to drive economic and social development in the region.
This announcement comes on the heels of another major infrastructure project in Jammu and Kashmir, where the government has approved Rs 827.98 crore for the construction of a 4-lane highway from Pandach to Manigam. This project is expected to enhance regional security, boost tourism, and improve travel efficiency.
