Central Government Convenes All-Party Meeting on Bangladesh Crisis

National Desk, 6th August: The Central government has scheduled an all-party meeting at 10 am today to address the escalating crisis in Bangladesh. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will brief the meeting on the latest developments.

The urgent meeting follows the arrival of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at India’s Hindon Airbase on a military aircraft. She was received by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and other senior officials.

This developing story comes amid reports that Hasina is currently seeking respite at the Hindon Airbase while awaiting clearances for travel to the UK. Sources informed PTI that Hasina’s plan includes seeking asylum in London. However, uncertainty looms as British Foreign Secretary David Lammy has called for a full and independent UN-led investigation into the violence in Bangladesh.

Sheikh Hasina’s son and former official adviser, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, expressed his mother’s disappointment over the recent turn of events, stating, “She has not done anything wrong, she provided the best government in the country. She will spend time with her grandchildren now.”

This meeting underscores the gravity of the situation and India’s strategic interest in the stability of its neighboring country. Further updates are expected as the situation evolves.
