Central Government likely to Announce Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) Implementation Rules
National Desk, 11th March: The Central Government of India is expected to unveil the rules and regulations for the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) today, March 11.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently reiterated that the CAA would be notified before the Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing that the Act does not revoke anyone’s citizenship as it lacks such provisions.
Shah clarified, “Our Muslim brothers are being misled and instigated (against the CAA). The CAA is only meant to grant citizenship to those who faced persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. It is not aimed at depriving anyone of their Indian citizenship.”
He also accused the Congress government of reneging on its promise to provide Indian citizenship to refugees persecuted in the aforementioned countries.
The implementation of the code of conduct is anticipated sometime in March. The regulations are finalized, and an online portal for the entire procedure, to be conducted digitally, is already operational.
