
Centre and NE States Join Hands to Boost Investment in Northeast; Strategic Roadmap in the Works
Agartala: Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya Scindia, chaired a key meeting with Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday, focusing on advancing investment promotion across the Northeast.
The session, held under the aegis of a high-level task force, concluded with a major decision to initiate stakeholder consultations involving industry associations, investors, and state officials to craft a strategic investment roadmap for the region.
Taking to social media, Scindia described the meeting as a vital step toward building “a unified vision for a vibrant, investment-ready Northeast.” He was joined by Sikkim’s Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Tshering T. Bhutia, senior officials from the Meghalaya government, and representatives from the Ministry of DoNER.
In a follow-up meeting, Scindia also reviewed key developmental projects in Tripura with the Chief Minister and senior officials, reinforcing the Centre’s commitment to harnessing Tripura’s potential as a key gateway for tourism, agriculture, trade, and regional investment. According to his office, the Union Minister stressed the importance of enhancing core infrastructure to catalyse inclusive growth and accelerate the Northeast’s contribution to the broader goal of a Viksit Bharat.
Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha, who serves as the convener of the High-Level Task Force on Investment Promotion formed by the North Eastern Council (NEC), confirmed that the virtual meeting marked the task force’s second session. He further revealed that reputed academic and expert institutions will be roped in to help develop a comprehensive Investment Policy tailored to the Northeast’s unique strengths and needs.
With an ambitious roadmap taking shape, the collaborative push between the Centre and Northeast states signals a renewed drive to position the region as an attractive investment destination aligned with national development goals.
