Centre appoints IPS Sadanand Vasant as Director General of NIA

National Desk, 27th March: The Central Government has announced the appointment of IPS Sadanand Vasant as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). In addition, IPS Piyush Anand has been appointed as the Director General of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

As per a notice issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Department of Personnel and Training, Sadanand Vasant, IPS (MH/90), will assume the role of Director General of the NIA in Level-16 of the Pay Matrix. His tenure will last until his superannuation on December 31, 2026, or until further orders, succeeding Shri Dinkar Gupta, IPS (PB/87), upon his superannuation on March 31, 2024.

Similarly, Piyush Anand, IPS (UP/91), who is currently serving as Special DG CISF, has been appointed as the Director General of NDRF. The post of DG NDRF has been temporarily upgraded to the level of DG on a personal basis for a period of two years from the date of joining the post or until further orders. This appointment follows the retirement of Shri Atul Karwal, IPS (GJ/88), on March 31, 2024.

These appointments underscore the government’s commitment to ensuring effective leadership in critical agencies responsible for national security and disaster response capabilities.
