Centre Approves 4% DA Hike for Government Employees

National Desk, 18th October: In a significant decision, the Centre has approved a 4% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees, following the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. Sources indicate that this decision was made during the Union Cabinet Meeting held on October 18.

As per the approval, the DA for central government employees will increase from the existing 42% to 46%. This DA hike will be effective from July 1, 2023.

This development means that central government employees will witness an increase in their pay starting from November, along with arrears for the months of July and October.

In March 2023, the Union Cabinet had previously approved a 4% increase in DA for central government employees, taking it from 38% to 42%. This increase in DA came into effect on January 1, 2023, and now, with this additional hike, government employees can expect enhanced compensation in line with inflation and the cost of living.
