Centre gives ‘Y’ category security to ‘The Kashmir Files’ director
Guwahati: The Centre has granted Vivek Agnihotri, the director of ‘The Kashmir Files,’ a ‘Y’ category security cover with CRPF coverage across India.
Since its debut on March 11, 2022, the film, which focuses on the flight of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990s, has been dogged by controversy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke out on Tuesday in defence of the recently released film ‘The Kashmir Files,’ claiming that attempts were being made to undermine it.
The flight of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990 was the subject of ‘The Kashmir Files.’
Meanwhile, opposition parties have panned the video, accusing it of presenting “half-truths.”
Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, mocked BJP leaders for supporting the film, saying that if a movie can be made, it can be made anywhere.
Bhupesh Baghel, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, said the video “The Kashmir Files” contains half-truths, adding that not only Hindus, but Buddhists, Muslims, and Sikhs were slaughtered in Kashmir.
Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumaar, and others star in the film.
In addition, other states, including Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Goa, Haryana, Gujarat, and Uttarakhand, have declared the film tax-free.
