Chain Snatcher Shot During Escape Attempt in Guwahati
Guwahati, 9th August: As incidents of robbery and chain snatching continue to rise, law enforcement faced another confrontation with a chain snatcher in Guwahati’s Narengi area. The chain snatcher, identified as Amir Ali, attempted to escape the clutches of the police but was shot in the leg during the encounter.
Amir Ali, who was arrested by Dispur Police in connection with robbery and chain snatching incidents, confessed during interrogation to his involvement in criminal activities alongside another individual named Cintu Medhi.
According to sources, Amir Ali disclosed that the stolen items were hidden in a location in Narengi. Accompanied by the police, Amir was taken to the site to recover the stolen goods. However, he attempted to flee the scene and seized a pistol from one of the officers. In response, the police resorted to firing, injuring him in the process.
Amir Ali’s injury has necessitated his admission to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment.
It has been revealed that both Amir Ali and Cintu Medhi were implicated in the investigation related to the murder of Purabi Dairy manager Ranjit Bora.
