National Desk, 2nd Separate: Nearly two months after their arrest, a significant development has taken place in the investigation of the triple train accident in Balasore, Odisha. On Saturday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a charge sheet in the Court of Special Judicial Magistrate in Bhubaneshwar.
The three railway officials, who were taken into custody on July 7, 2023, have been under judicial custody as part of the ongoing investigation into the train accident. They have been identified as Arun Kumar Mahanta, Senior Sectional Engineer (SSE) Incharge of Signal in Balasore, Md Amir Khan, SSE (Signal) in Soro, and Pappu Kumar, a technician in Balasore.
The charges against them include culpable homicide not amounting to murder and destruction of evidence. In accordance with these charges, the CBI has now filed a charge sheet against the accused officials.
