Chhattisgarh: CRPF Officer Killed, jawan injured in encounter with Maoists

Guwahati: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer was killed and a jawan injured during an encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s on Saturday.

The incident took at around 9:30 am in Timmapur village of Bijapur district.

The deceased has been identified as Shanti Bhushan Tirkey is a resident of Jharkhand and the injured jawan is identified as Apparav.

According to reports, the incident occurred when a team of CRPF’s 168th battalion was out on a road security duty.

It may be mentioned that the injured jawan and the body of the martyred officer are being shifted out of the forest.

However, the search operation is underway in nearby areas.
