Guwahati: Assam is abuzz with spiritual fervour as the auspicious ‘Ambubachi Mahayog’ officially commenced today, June 22. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended a warm welcome to pilgrims arriving in the state, inviting them to experience a “divine experience” and seek the sacred blessings of Maa Kamakhya. Taking to his official X handle, the Chief Minister highlighted that spiritual leaders and devotees from across the nation are converging at the revered Nilachal Hills to offer their prayers. His post read, “Today marks the beginning of the #Ambubachi Mahayog, an annual celebration of Maa Kamakhya’s divine femininity. Spiritual Gurus and devotees from across the country will dawn upon the sacred Nilachal Hills to pray for Bharat. I welcome all pilgrims to Assam & wish everyone a divine experience and the choicest blessings of Maa Kamakhya.” The four-day annual festival, deeply rooted in Tantric traditions, symbolises the annual menstruation of Goddess Kamakhya and draws lakhs of devotees to the powerful Shakti Peeth.
Meanwhile, anticipating the massive influx of pilgrims, the Guwahati Traffic Police had earlier announced a series of traffic restrictions, effective from June 22 to June 25. These measures are strategically put in place to ensure the safety of all attendees and facilitate the smooth movement of traffic, with particular emphasis on ensuring unimpeded access for essential services like ambulances, fire tenders, and school buses. Visitors are advised to adhere to the notified diversions and guidelines for a hassle-free pilgrimage.
