Child Assault Case: Accused Receives 20-Year Sentence in Assam

Guwahati, 25th August: In a significant development, a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) court in Assam’s Chirang district has pronounced a 20-year rigorous imprisonment sentence for an individual named Rajen Narzary, who was found guilty of assaulting a three-year-old girl. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the accused.

This verdict is the outcome of the 18/2019 (POCSO) case that occurred near the Indo-Bhutan border. In addition to the imposed fine, Narzary will serve an additional year of imprisonment. This ruling underscores the importance of ensuring justice for victims of child abuse in the region.
