Child Goes Missing After Boat Capsizes in Assam’s Dhemaji

Guwahati: A one-year-old infant was missing after a country-made boat capsized on the Lali river in Dhemaji district of Assam, an official reported on Tuesday.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team and the Dhemaji district fire services team conducted the search and rescue operation.

Notably, a country-made boat carrying seven people including two children overturned on the Lali river not far from the Kangkan Chapori district of the Jonai Subdivision on Monday.

Following the catastrophe, villagers saved six individuals but a one-year-old child is still missing.

A member of the SDRF crew stated, “Others were saved after the boat capsized incident, but a one-year-old child is still missing. The incident took place yesterday.”

According to the locals, the country-built boat was travelling from Kangkan Chapori to the Lomba Chapori area.
