Circle Officer Held By CID In Dhula Minor Death Case

Guwahati: Dhula circle Officer Ashirbad Hazarika was arrested by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police after he reportedly surrendered before them on Friday.

The circle officer and executive magistrate in the government of Assam reportedly turned themselves in to CID yesterday.

According to reports, he was taken into custody this morning early. It should be mentioned that he was a suspect in the murder of a young tribal girl in Dhula, Assam’s Darrang district. Several high profile arrests have been made in the case so far.

Three doctors who had been detained in connection with the case, on the other hand, came before the Gauhati High Court to request bail.

Ashirbad Hazarika has apparently also asked for anticipatory bail in the case, which the court will consider today. CID is ready to protest to the bail, though, and a team of CID agents is reportedly on their way to court to present the case diary in opposition to his request.

It should be mentioned that Raj Mohan Ray, one of the key suspects in the Dhula minor girl killing case, turned himself in to CID yesterday. He appeared at the CID office to surrender after being on the run since the event, and was quickly taken into custody.

Ray has been charged with attempting to withhold the results of the investigation into the killing of the indigenous girl.

The officer in charge (OC) of Dhula Police Station, Utpal Bora, was previously detained by CID on November 1 in connection with the case in Assam’s Darrang district.

Utpal was detained for carelessness during the murder inquiry. Sources claim that CID oversaw a special investigation team that looked into the situation. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma intervened to have the subject looked into.

Three medical professionals from the Mangaldoi Civil Hospital, Drs. Arun Ch. Deka, Ajanta Bordoloi, and Anupam Sharma, have also been detained in connection with the 13-year-old girl’s untimely death. All three doctors were detained for fabricating a suicide in the death of the young girl.

Rupam Phukan, the Additional SP at the Dhula Police Station, was also arrested for failing to do his job and attempting to defend the accused. According to reports, Phukan took a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from the accused’s family.

When it came to gathering visual records of the incident, such as photos and videos, the Dhula Police acted with the utmost negligence. The OC of the Dhula Police Station is also accused of exerting pressure on the deceased’s family members to refrain from filing a written complaint about the unnatural death.
