Civilian Evacuation Ordered as Cross-Border Firing Intensifies
National: Amidst relentless and unprovoked firing by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control and the international border, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has issued immediate orders for the evacuation of all Indian citizens residing in close proximity to the volatile region.
This urgent directive follows a tragic escalation in cross-border hostilities that has already claimed the lives of ten innocent Indian civilians and left thirty-three others injured.
The grave situation unfolded merely hours after India’s decisive retaliatory action, codenamed ‘Operation Sindoor’. This operation was launched in direct response to the devastating April 22 attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of twenty-six individuals, a majority of whom were tourists.
Sources within India Today have revealed that Home Minister Amit Shah is maintaining constant communication with key officials, including Border Security Force Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, closely monitoring the escalating tensions and coordinating relief efforts.
Minister Shah has specifically instructed that civilians living near the LoC be immediately relocated to safer areas within Bakars, emphasizing the paramount importance of ensuring their security and well-being as the nation’s top priority during this critical period.
Defence sources have confirmed that the Indian Army has responded swiftly and forcefully to the cross-border aggression, inflicting substantial damage on numerous Pakistan Army posts situated in the sensitive Kupwara and Rajouri-Poonch sectors. Initial reports indicate that the retaliatory action has resulted in significant military casualties on the Pakistani side. Intense artillery exchanges are currently ongoing in both sectors as the situation remains highly volatile.
Earlier in the day, addressing the nation on the security scenario, Home Minister Amit Shah unequivocally stated that ‘Operation Sindoor’ represents Bharat’s resolute and unwavering response to the brutal killings of innocent civilians in the Pahalgam attack.
Minister Shah’s strong statement came in the aftermath of precise missile strikes executed by the Indian armed forces on nine identified terror targets located within Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. These strategically targeted locations included the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base in Muridke. This decisive operation was officially designated as ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Reiterating the government’s firm stance on national security, Home Minister Shah asserted that the Modi administration is fully determined to deliver a befitting and powerful response to any act of aggression against India and its citizens. He further emphasized Bharat’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism from its very roots, ensuring the safety and security of the nation.
