Class 7 Question Paper Terms Kashmir as Separate Country

Guwahati: A Class VII exam question paper in a government school in Kishanganj, Bihar, purportedly had a question that described Kashmir as a separate country, igniting a new controversy.

The education department of Bihar has been holding a midterm exam for students in grades I through VIII from October 12 to October 18.

The incident came to the fore when the students of class VII were asked in their English exam: “What are the people of the following countries called? One is done for you.”

The paper setter asks, “If the people of China are called Chinese, what are the people of Nepal, England, Kashmir, and India called?” using China as an example.

These students in Araria, Kishanganj, and Katihar purportedly answered this question, which further “highlighted the attitude” of the paper maker and setter.

However, the school’s management claimed that it was a “human error.”

Educationists and BJP leaders have claimed that the situation is a conspiracy, and they have asked the Union Education Minister to look into it.
