CM Conrad Sangma Presents Meghalaya’s $10 Billion Economic Vision at DoNER Review Meet
Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma presented his government’s economic roadmap during a high-level review meeting on the State Vision Plan, chaired by Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in New Delhi on April 23.
Outlining the state’s ambition to become a $10 billion economy, Sangma highlighted progress in key sectors like agriculture, food processing, tourism, entrepreneurship, and rural connectivity. The Chief Minister reiterated Meghalaya’s commitment to inclusive growth through rural infrastructure development and sectoral innovation.
“We will leverage our unique strengths like Lakadong turmeric and promote local architecture in homestays and tourist spots,” Sangma said, referring to suggestions made during the meeting by Minister Scindia.
The review meeting also aligned with ongoing efforts under the North East Economic Corridor (NEEC), where Sangma had earlier participated in its inaugural task force session. The NEEC aims to foster regional cooperation and integrated development across Northeast India.
On his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Chief Minister described the Northeast as a “unified region” whose proximity to South East Asia presents immense economic potential. He stressed that enhanced interstate synergy and strategic partnerships will be crucial in driving this momentum.
The meeting concluded with a unified resolve among stakeholders to fast-track development projects and unlock the Northeast’s role as a dynamic growth engine for the nation.
