CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Discusses Advantage Assam 2.0 with Amit Shah, Summit Set for Major Global Investments

Guwahati — Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday at his official residence in the national capital to discuss preparations for the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 Business Summit.

The high-level meeting, lasting 30 minutes, focused on strategies to attract substantial investments and position Assam as a key player in India’s economic growth.

During the discussion, CM Sarma briefed Shah on the Assam government’s initiatives to ensure the summit’s success. The two-day event, set to take place in Guwahati, is expected to draw both domestic and international investors. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the summit on February 25.

An official statement confirmed that Amit Shah appreciated CM Sarma’s efforts and expressed confidence that the event would play a transformative role in Assam’s industrial and economic development. Following the meeting, Sarma took to social media platform X, describing it as a privilege to seek Shah’s guidance for the summit.

Speaking at a press conference in Guwahati, CM Sarma revealed that Assam is set to sign two major Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during the event—one with Japan and another with Singapore. Japan has expressed interest in recruiting skilled manpower from Assam, while Singapore is keen on hiring nurses from the state, marking a significant step toward international workforce collaboration.
