CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Inaugurates Major Upgrade at LGBI Airport to Boost Passenger Experience
Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the upgradation project at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport, marking a significant step toward enhancing passenger convenience and modernizing travel infrastructure.
The expansion project introduces several key upgrades aimed at streamlining traffic flow, improving security, and elevating the overall passenger experience:
- Expanded Front Platform: Increased from 270 sq. m. to 1000 sq. m., with an additional 900 sq. m. of pedestrian footpaths for smoother movement.
- Enhanced Traffic Flow: Entry lanes expanded from 8 to 14, while departure lanes increased from 3 to 4, reducing congestion. Four new DigiYatra gates have been installed for faster check-ins.
- Improved Security Check-In: The security screening area has been enlarged from 300 sq. m. to 450 sq. m., with added screening queues and upgraded furniture for better efficiency.
- Aesthetic Enhancements: A 140-meter architectural wall and 300 sq. m. of new gardens have been added to enhance the airport’s visual appeal.
- Upgraded Passenger Amenities: Enhanced retail, food, and recreational facilities ensure a more comfortable and enjoyable travel experience.
As Assam’s busiest airport, LGBI’s modernization aims to accommodate rising passenger traffic while aligning with global aviation standards. The upgrades promise a seamless, efficient, and world-class experience for travelers.
