CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Meets EAM S. Jaishankar, Discusses Assam’s Global Growth and ‘Advantage Assam 2’
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with Union Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar on February 4 to discuss Assam’s expanding international engagement and strategic role in India’s Act East Policy.
During the meeting, CM Sarma shared insights from his recent visits to Bhutan, South Korea, and Japan, where he observed growing admiration for India’s rapid development. He highlighted the positive reception of India’s progress in these nations, underscoring Assam’s emerging role in regional cooperation.
Taking to social media, Sarma announced that Minister Jaishankar will play a key role in the upcoming ‘Advantage Assam 2’ conclave, where he will address Assam’s significance in India’s Act East Policy and its potential as a regional investment hub.
The meeting follows Sarma’s visit to New Delhi on February 3, where he engaged in discussions with Union Ministers to fine-tune the agenda for the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit. This initiative aims to attract investments, bolster Assam’s infrastructure, and position the state as a key economic driver in the Northeast.
