Agartala: Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted Tripura’s significant advancements in healthcare and education during an event held at Mandwi Mandal’s Mailuma School ground on Sunday.
Saha detailed the state’s achievements in medical services, including the successful implementation of free kidney transplants and plans to introduce bone marrow and liver transplant facilities soon.
Discussing the growth of medical education, Saha noted that approximately 400 doctors now graduate annually from the state’s medical colleges. He revealed that Tripura Medical College, currently with 100 seats, has applied for an additional 50 seats to meet the increasing demand for medical professionals.
The Chief Minister also underscored the establishment of super-speciality services through a Rs 250 crore investment. Further, the state has allocated land for new hospitals, projected to cost Rs 700 crore, aiming to reduce dependence on other states for advanced medical care. Renowned companies have already participated in pre-auction processes to ensure the development of high-quality healthcare facilities.
Saha credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Policy for catalyzing Tripura’s development. He also mentioned the successful hosting of the 72nd plenary session of the North Eastern Council in Tripura, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, as a testament to the state’s growing prominence.
In addition to healthcare, Saha emphasized welfare initiatives, noting the increase in self-help groups from 4,000 to 56,000 and the transparent provision of over 13,000 government jobs since his administration took office.
The Chief Minister concluded by engaging with local Janajati Samajpatis, listening to their concerns and feedback, and reiterating his government’s commitment to addressing the needs of all communities in Tripura.
