CM Sarma Hails Armed Forces’ Precision in Operation Sindoor, Declares India Now ‘Sets Terms of Engagement’

Guwahati — Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has lauded the Indian Armed Forces for their exceptional professionalism and transparency during recent briefings on Operation Sindoor, a strategic cross-border military operation that he said has redefined India’s defence posture. Commending the Directorate General of Military Operations (DGMO), Sarma described their public engagement as “intense, unapologetically professional, and brutally honest,” underscoring India’s ability to respond with surgical precision in the face of terror threats.

The Chief Minister emphasized that India’s military leadership displayed unwavering resolve under intense scrutiny, noting that the DGMO briefings made it abundantly clear that Indian forces struck deep within Pakistani territory with clarity of intent and strategic depth. He remarked that the transparency of the Armed Forces has not only reassured citizens but also sent a strong message to India’s adversaries. “The Indian Armed Forces have struck Pakistan deep inside its own territory, with precision and resolve,” Sarma said.

Sarma drew particular attention to India’s Integrated Air Defence System, calling it more than just a protective mechanism — a symbol of technological supremacy and strategic dominance. “Our Integrated Air Defence System is not just a shield — it is a declaration of India’s technological superiority and military dominance. From the sky to the ground, India now decides the terms of engagement,” he stated.

The remarks follow the launch of Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory strike conducted in response to the April 22 terror attacks in Pahalgam. According to reports, the operation neutralised over 100 militants and dismantled multiple terror infrastructure points in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. For Sarma, the mission signals a transformation in India’s global standing, driven not by rhetoric but by demonstrable military might. “This is not propaganda. This is the new India — driven by strategy, powered by strength, and backed by facts,” he added.

The Chief Minister’s statements are being seen as a clear message not only to Pakistan but also to the broader international community that India will not hesitate to defend its sovereignty. He cautioned that any violation of ceasefire or act of aggression would be met with swift and decisive retaliation, reiterating India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism.

Sarma also connected India’s military resurgence to its economic reforms, pointing out that mechanisms like the Goods and Services Tax (GST) have enabled large-scale defence modernisation. He cited major acquisitions such as the Rafale fighter jets and the S-400 missile systems as evidence of a government committed to building long-term strategic strength.

As geopolitical tensions simmer, the Chief Minister’s remarks reinforce a growing sentiment in India’s defence and political circles — that the country, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is now capable and willing to shape its security environment on its own terms.
