Coal Mafia Shot Dead in Police Encounter at Assam’s Hailakandi
Guwahati: In yet another police encounter in Assam, a most wanted coal mafia was shot dead in an encounter in Hailakandi district on Sunday.
The deceased cola mafia has been identified as Abdul Ahad Choudhury who was a resident of Sutarkandi in Southern Assam’s Karimganj district.
The encounter took place at around 1:30 am in Lakhiminagar, which is situated in the border of Hailakandi and Karimganj.
Choudhury was arrested by the Hailakandi Police from Sutarkandi in Karimganj district on Saturday.
It needs to be noted that after the mafia attempted to flee from police custody during his medical check-up at the Lala Civil Hospital in Hailakandi, the police resorted to shooting.
