COCOMI Announces Public Meeting on First Anniversary of Manipur Crisis

Northeast Desk, 27th April: The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has slated a public meeting on May 3, 2024, marking one year since the alleged narco-terrorist aggression in Manipur, expressing discontent with the Government of India’s response to the crisis.

At a press conference, COCOMI spokesman Khurajam Athouba Meitei highlighted the lack of visible relief or restoration of normalcy despite a year-long conflict, announcing plans to issue an ultimatum at the upcoming meeting.

Documents and data related to the crisis will be presented, with discussions focusing on the government’s handling of the situation, public understanding of the Suspension of Operation, illegal immigration, and poppy cultivation’s connection to the crisis.

Earlier, on April 27, a gunfight erupted between two groups in Manipur, resulting in the death of a 33-year-old man, identified as Laishram Prem, whose body was found following the incident at Sinam Kom near the border of Kangpkopi and Imphal East districts.
