Coffee Table Book ‘Anupam Assam’ Launched on World Tourism Day in Assam
Guwahati: On the occasion of World Tourism Day, the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) hosted an event at Kaziranga to highlight Assam’s traditional culture, natural beauty, and variety in keeping with the year’s theme of “Rethinking Tourism.”
A seminar on the topic of “Rethinking Tourism” was held after the cultural procession, which covered a 1.5 km distance from the Forest Convention Ground in Kohora to BOC Point and back.
The event’s chief guest, Tourism Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, unveiled the Heritage Walks of Assam initiative and launched the coffee table book “Anupam Assam.”
The River Tourism, Travel Writing, Tourism Promotion, Homestay, Wildlife Conservation, and Tourist Guide categories each received diplomas and souvenirs for their exceptional accomplishments. Additionally, prizes were given out for the competitions in short films, photography, and write-ups.
Speaking on the occasion, Jayanta Malla Baruah said, “We need to understand that tourism is a vital method to scale up our economy and everyone has to work collaboratively in this objective, especially people in this industry.” “We will also endeavour to increase the effectiveness of the workers here and offer them with the best and most appropriate training,” he added.
“A subsidy of Rs. 200 crore would be offered to 100 Assamese tea gardens for the development of their historic tea gardens and historic houses,” he added.
A vote of appreciation was given by Shri Rajveer Hussain, OSD, Assam Tourism, and then a cultural presentation with Assamese dancing styles like Bihu, Satriya, Jhumur, etc. completed the occasion. The initiative gave inhabitants and visitors to the area the perfect platform to encourage cultural exchange.
World Tourism Day is celebrated on September 27th throughout the world to raise awareness of the significance of tourism. Assam, the land of ‘blue hills and red river’ known for its breathtaking landscapes attracts thousands of tourists every year. The event was held at Kaziranga, well known for the one-horned rhinoceros.
