College Student Killed by Lightning Strike in Assam’s Sribhumi District

Guwahati: In a heartbreaking incident, Zahida Begum, a young college student, lost her life after being struck by lightning in Hasanpur, Sribhumi district of Assam. The tragedy unfolded on her way to classes at Khairun Nessa Begum Women’s College (KNBW) in the Srigauri area, where she was pursuing her studies.

The sudden and severe lightning strike claimed Zahida’s life on the spot, sending shockwaves through her community and college. Known to be a dedicated student, her untimely death has left family members, classmates, and locals in deep grief.

The incident occurred amidst a spell of unpredictable weather in the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts across several parts of Assam, warning of thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and gusty winds.
