Comedian Raju Srivastava Remains Critical, On Life Support in ICU of AIIMS

Guwahati: Popular comedian and actor Raju Srivastava is still receiving intensive care and is being kept alive and his health is serious, according to reports from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi.

Srivastava has reportedly been comatose for the past nine days and his blood pressure has been erratic. He had experienced a heart attack while at the gym and had been taken to the hospital on August 10.

However, his manager had mentioned earlier this week that there was a slight improvement in his condition.

Srivastava’s family had released a statement via his official Instagram page last week saying that his condition was stable. They urged people to “ignore any rumour/fake news being circulated”.

The comedian’s family was contacted earlier to inquire after his health by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

According to reports, the 58-year-old comic fainted on a treadmill while complaining of chest problems. His trained took him to AIIMS, where he received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) thrice and was made to feel better.

One of the most well-known and prosperous comedians in the nation is Srivastava. His career in the entertainment industry dates back to the late 1980s.

He became well-known after participating in “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’s” inaugural season in 2005.

He has also appeared in Hindi films including ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, ‘Baazigar’, ‘Bombay to Goa’ and ‘Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya’. He was also a contestant on ‘Big Boss’ season three.

He is currently the chairperson of Uttar Pradesh’s Film Development Council.
