Complaint Filed Against ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ For Hurting Religious Sentiments

Guwahati: A day after the premiere of his movie “Laal Singh Chaddha,” Aamir Khan found himself in hot water for allegedly offending religious feelings and disparaging the Indian Army.

The actor played a member of the Indian Army in the film, which was released on August 11.

A complaint was made to the Delhi Police by a lawyer from Delhi named Vineet Jindal, who claimed that the actor’s representation of Indian Army personnel in the movie was disrespectful.

The complaint also claimed that a certain moment in the movie offended members of a particular religion.

The scene where a Pakistani army officer asked Aamir Khan’s character Laal to pray however he refused by saying ‘my mother said all this puja paath is malaria. It causes riots’, alleged Jindal in his complaint.

“This statement shows his intent of waging war and activating enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion which is against the ideology of a secular democratic country like and also mischief against Indian army which is a criminal offence as per the law of the land,” he added.

Through this complaint, the attorney is requesting that a FIR be filed against Aamir Khan and other cast members of this film under Indian Penal Code sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 153A (promoting hostility between different groups), 298 (hurting someone’s religious feelings), and 505 (statements conducive to public mischief).
