Cong Leader Rahul Gandhi Booked Under Copyright Act

Guwahati: Using two songs from a movie without permission during the Bharat Jodo Yatra has been charged with breaking the Copyright Act by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and two other officials.

The former head of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and the three of them have allegedly been charged under the copyright statute, according to a criminal complaint submitted by a business partner of a Bengaluru-based music recording studio, according to a Times Now article.

The business that brought the lawsuit is the owner of the song’s copyrights.

A complaint by M Naveen Kumar, a business partner of MRT Music, led to the detention of Supriya Shrinate, the head of Congress’ social media and digital platforms, and Rajya Sabha member Jairam Ramesh.

Rahul Gandhi is named as the third offender in the FIR, which makes reference to the laws of the Copyright and Information Technology Act as well as IPC sections 120b (for criminal conspiracy), 403 (for dishonest theft of property), and 465 (for forgery).

According to Kumar, they used the music without asking for our permission in their advertising videos. They presented it as if they had made it.

What a violation, two different violations have occurred, according to a legal professional. They first copied the tunes and utilised them without authorization in a video. Second, according to the plaintiff, the songs promote both Rahul Gandhi and the Congress.

BJP’s IT cell chief, Amit Malviya attacked Gandhi and his party on Twitter in relation to the issue.
