Guwahati: The Barak Valley bandh has been called by the Barak Democratic Front on November 18. The Assam Congress working president and North Karimganj MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha stated that the party will support the bandh.
A 12-hour bandh would be held in protest of the state government’s “indifferent attitude” toward Bengalis and its lack of punishment against those responsible for the violence against non-tribals at a rally in Shillong of Meghalaya on October 28.
Purkayastha declared that they will also support the bandh in order to protest the alleged prejudice against candidates from the valley during a recent exam for appointments to grade-III and grade-IV posts of the state government.
