Congress Alleges Higher Incidence of Scams in Assam Than at Centre, Launches Manifesto ‘Nyay Patra’

Guwahati, 8th April: During the launch of the party’s manifesto ‘Nyay Patra’ in Assam, Congress general secretary in-charge of the state, Jitendra Singh, asserted that the rate of scams in Assam surpasses that of the Centre by more than 1.5 times, accusing the BJP-led government of failing to fulfill its promises.

Singh reaffirmed Congress’s commitment to fulfilling all guarantees outlined in the manifesto while alleging the imposition of a ‘special mafia tax called HBS tax’ on all commodities in the state, with the chief minister held directly accountable.

Citing unfulfilled promises by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh criticized slogans like ‘ache din’ and ‘na khaunga aur na khane dunga,’ alleging that they remained unrealized. He further pointed to major scams under the Modi government, including the electoral bonds scheme.

Singh contended that the Assam government’s trajectory mirrors that of the central government, alleging a higher incidence of scams in the state compared to the Centre.

Highlighting the ‘Nyay Patra’ as a reflection of the people’s aspirations, Singh emphasized Congress’s commitment to addressing key issues and delivering on its promises to the people of Assam.
